University of Lincoln Student Union has introduced the above scheme to allow more effective liaison with landlords offering accommodation for students.
All participating landlords will conform to the following
Must be part of the City of Lincoln Accreditation Scheme for Student Housing
- Provides for monitoring of safety cert
- Ensures basic provisions of property is defined
- Covers the issues of follow up to problems
Lodge a Copy of their Tenancy with the Students Union
- Shows willingness to work with SU
- Allows for observation of documents in case of dispute/misunderstanding (not legal interpretation)
Environmental Aspect - Recycling etc
- SU to distribute statements on energy efficiency, TRV on radiators, promoting thermal insulation. etc
- Creating opportunities and advice for recycling (SU initiatives)
Community - Landlord willing to be contacted about noise and refuse problems etc.
- Informing students about refuse collection routines
- Seeking for landlords to promote neighbourhood messages
- Maintaining property frontage
SU Satisfaction Survey
- Willing to be included in a tenant satisfaction survey (Currently on going at www.lincolnsu.com/accommodationsurvey )
Repairs Statement - A priority listing of how quickly they will attend to jobs.
- Timescales for dealing with categories is covered by accreditation.
- Provide details of repair timescales if different from those indicated within the Accreditation Scheme.
- Agreement of a statement to agree to keep students informed about undue delays and support during such time
Deposit Management
- Provide clear information on how the deposit is managed
- Provide copies of any information available to students relevant to the management of deposits
- Provide copies of any information provided to students on departing the property at the end of the tenancy.
As the accommodation satisfaction is currently underway the landlords who have agreed to comply with the above conditions will have their entries onto 'Studentpad' badged to show that they are Affiliate Landlords of the Student Union. In time as responses to the survey are collated a 1/2/3 grading system will be introduced to these badges.
